Welcome to Milwaukie First Baptist Church

Milwaukie Church is an evangelical church that seeks to be contemporary and progressive in a way which faces the most important issues of life head on. Here at MFBC, we provide biblical principles relevant to your everyday life. As part of the overall philosophy of ministry, we strive to live out the following core values:

  • We Are Committed To Bring Relevance

Many people believe that the Bible and Christianity are answering only yesterday's questions. We believe Christianity is relevant to issues of our day and age. Progressive means we believe that God will impact and change our world through His power. We're eager to try new ideas or approaches to improve what we do.

  • The Process Is As Important As The Product

We care about how we do ministry and how it affects people's lives. Every person faces different life experiences and what an individual feels and thinks is important. Part of your life experience involves time to seek, discover and ask questions - we honor this discovery process.

  • Discovery And Involvement Produce Fruitfulness

We are committed to providing opportunities for people to study the Bible and serve through their gifts and talents. The real joy in life comes not from what we get, but what we give through service and discover through study.

  • Questions Are Encouraged

We believe everyone is in an adventure of spiritual discovery. Christianity stands up well to strong questions and at MFBC, they are encouraged.

  • Involvement And Discovery From An Experience With God

Interdependence means everyone counts and everyone is valued. God works through teamwork. We are strongly committed to connections as we achieve God's goals together through teamwork partnership.

Jesus said the two greatest commandments are to love God and to love your neighbor. Milwaukie Church is committed to loving God and helping you love one another! We want to help you discover God's love so you can develop quality relationships with other Gods people that will enable you to live out the mystery of Christ in you. In many ways the principle of Jesus is so simple: love God and love others. Yet this principle takes commitment. Milwaukie Church is here to help you as you discover, grow and develop.

At the center of our beliefs is a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. The Bible, which is uniquely inspired by God, reveals God's plan for this relationship. As the Bible teaches, there is one God, who exists eternally in three persons -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit -- each possessing all the attributes of God. God created us to have an ongoing personal relationship with Him. We often, through our actions and attitudes, ignore and reject who God is and His plan for us. This is known as sin. Because God is holy, He cannot accept our sin and this causes our relationship with Him to be broken. The Bible teaches that the penalty for our sin is death which is eternal separation from God. Jesus Christ, the one and only Son of God lived a sinless life on earth and voluntarily paid for our sin by dying on the cross as our substitute. What this means is that Jesus Christ provided a means by which our broken relationship with God could be completely restored. This is salvation. Salvation comes only through God's grace and must be received personally by repentance and faith. Jesus rose from the dead and is the only Mediator between us and God. He will return to earth to fulfill God's plan. Until then, the Holy Spirit equips those who have a personal relationship with Jesus with gifts which allow for growth and service in Christ's Church.

The worship celebrations on Sunday morning are designed to help you experience God's greatness. They are designed for those investigating the Christian faith, those who are seeking biblical insights for life and those growing in Christ as they live out their faith in a relevant cultural context. We offer two distinct services. A Classic Service at 9:30 am and a Contemporary Service at 11:10 am.
